Alaska Rush Soccer Club was very well represented at the Anchorage School District's Elementary School Cross Country Jamboree on Saturday, September 15, 2012, held at Service High School. Despite the chill in the air and the threat of rain, hundreds of Anchorage School District elementary students and their families braved the elements to particpate. Sebastian Szweda-Mittlestadt took first place in his age bracket of 5th and 6th Grade boys while Harrison Sturm won his bracket in the 4th Grade heat with an impressive mile run will below eight minutes.
Also, from the 4th Grade group, Korbin Welker, Max Anders, Brett Evans, and Aiden Schubert all had powerful finishes, each clocking solid times and crossing the finish line amongst the top twenty runners. Cole Valantas also finished strong in his group.
Not to be outdone or forgotten, Alaska Rush girls were represented too with Alexxa Schubert’s strong finish in the top ten of her group of 4th Grade girls.
It was a great event to watch with so many of Anchorage’s youth putting everything they had into crossing the finish line. To see Alaska Rush athletes pushing themselves and having fun while they did, made it all the more special. Great job Alaska Rush!
