Congratulations are in order as two Alaska Rush teams - 99G and 02B - won the 2013 Alaska Youth Soccer State Cup in the U15G and U12B categories respectively. The annual end-of-year tournament, this year held between August 6-11 in Anchorage, Alaska, is the is the pinnacle of soccer success in the State of Alaska. The winners will move onto the Region IV Far West Regionals in Albuquerque, New Mexico next June.
'I'm very proud of our girls and honored to be their coach,' said 99G team Head Coach and Alaska Rush Technical Director Jason Leonardis. 'We set out with a goal last year of repeating as State Cup Champions and we worked extremely hard and smart as a group to achieve that goal. It's a great accomplishment and we look forward to fairing well at Regionals next year.'
With regards to the 02B team's win, Head Coach Joe Wentworth said, 'The boys are extremely excited about going to Regionals and are looking forward to representing Alaska soccer in a good light.'
The Alaska Rush 02G also made it to the finals, but fell short after a successful summer which saw them win both the Alaska Airlines Cup and the Far North Invitational.
